Jim Thome Honors Paul Bauer With Heartfelt Gesture at White Sox Game

During a game in which he was being honored, Chicago White Sox legend Jim Thome made a heartfelt gesture Saturday night to honor the life of fallen Chicago police Commander Paul Bauer.

Thome, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this week, was honored before the White Sox game against the Cleveland Indians with a first pitch and with his own bobblehead, but he made it a point to honor Bauer, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year:

Commander Bauer was a huge Thome fan, according to the White Sox, and the Hall of Famer signed a jersey in his honor and gave it to the commander’s wife.

Bauer, a 31-year veteran on the force, was fatally shot by a man while assisting a tactical team at the Thompson Center in February.
