Chicago White Sox Hire Frank Menechino As Hitting Coach

The Chicago White Sox have found their replacement for former hitting coach Todd Steverson, hiring Frank Menechino to step into the position.

Menechino, who served as the hitting coach for the Triple-A Charlotte Knights last season, will be tasked with helping the team’s plethora of youngsters, including Eloy Jiménez and Yoán Moncada, continue their development at the plate.

According to the White Sox, Menechino oversaw the Knights’ incredible offensive performance in 2018, as the club led the International League in runs, finished second in on-base percentage and slugging, and third in home runs.

Menechino played for the Oakland A’s and Toronto Blue Jays during his big league career. After his playing days concluded, he became a coach in the New York Yankees’ organization before being named the Miami Marlins hitting coach in 2013. He was let go after the 2018 season, and that’s when the White Sox brought him in to work with their young hitters in Triple-A.
