White Sox Have Top-Ranked Farm System in Baseball

The Chicago White Sox have one of the worst records in baseball, but even as their big league club struggles, the organization is being recognized for stockpiling talented prospects for the future.

According to a midseason ranking compiled by MLB Pipeline, the White Sox now have the top-ranked farm system in all of baseball, The White Sox kicked off the year in the number three position, but with the addition of players like Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert, they have jumped up ahead of the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres thanks to their trades and signings.

The White Sox added the number one prospect in all of baseball last offseason when they acquired Yoan Moncada in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. They have also added baseball’s seventh-best prospect in Jimenez, the 12th-rated prospect in Michael Kopech, and the 26th-best prospect in Robert during a whirlwind of rebuilding activity.

The Braves, the number one team before the start of the season, now rank second according to MLB Pipeline, with the Padres, New York Yankees, and Tampa Bay Rays rounding out the top five.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs no longer have any prospects in the Top 100 in baseball after trading Jimenez and Dylan Cease to the White Sox in exchange for pitcher Jose Quintana. They also traded Jeimer Candelario (number 92) to the Detroit Tigers as part of a package to get Justin Wilson and Alex Avila.
