Chicago White Sox to Honor Harold Baines This Season

Baines was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year

The Chicago White Sox will honor Hall of Fame-bound legend Harold Baines with a special pregame ceremony later this season, the team announced this week.

Baines, who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in January, will be honored before the team’s Aug. 11 game against the Oakland Athletics.

His Hall of Fame plaque will feature the White Sox logo on the cap, making him the 15th person in team history to go into Cooperstown representing the South Side squad.

Baines posted a .289 batting average in his big league career, slugging 384 home runs and driving in 1,628 RBI in 22 seasons at the big league level. He is the only player in big league history to make 1,000 appearances as a designated hitter and at least 1,000 games at another position, according to a press release issued by the team.

Single-game tickets for the White Sox are now on sale on the team’s website and at the Guaranteed Rate Field box office.
