Chicago White Sox Pitcher Dylan Cease Set to Make MLB Debut

The Chicago White Sox have finally made a move that fans have been longing for, announcing that pitcher Dylan Cease will make his Major League debut later this week.

Cease, acquired by the White Sox in the trade that sent José Quintana to the Chicago Cubs, will start the first game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon, manager Rick Renteria announced Sunday.

Cease has posted a 5-2 record with a 4.48 ERA in 15 starts with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights this season. He has struck out 73 batters in 68.1 innings, and is considered one of the organization’s top prospects.

It is unclear if Cease will remain with the team beyond the first start, as the White Sox will be allowed to call up one extra player for the doubleheader.

Unfortunately for baseball fans, a Wednesday start for Cease means that he won’t be in line to start a game against the Cubs over the weekend, as the White Sox will welcome their North Side rivals to the South Side for games on Saturday and Sunday.
