The Chicago Cubs’ rotation will get a much-needed boost on Tuesday as right-handed pitcher Kyle Hendricks has been activated from the 10-day injured list.

Hendricks, who hasn’t pitched since June 14 for the Cubs, has been battling inflammation in his pitching shoulder, but will be back on the mound Tuesday when the Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The hurler has a 7-5 record with a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts this season, and he’s racked up 75 strikeouts in 88.1 innings of work.

In another roster move, left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario was recalled from Triple-A Iowa. Rosario has appeared in eight games with the Cubs this season, with a 6.43 ERA and nine strikeouts in seven innings. He’s been much better in the minors, with a 2.25 ERA in 18 appearances with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.

To make room on the roster for the two pitchers, right-handed pitchers Adbert Alzolay and Rowan Wick were both optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

The Cubs will attempt to bounce back from a blowout loss when they take the field Tuesday in game two of a four-game series. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
