Cubs 3B Kris Bryant Debuts Epic ‘Player's Weekend' Cleats

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is still battling his way back onto the field after suffering a shoulder injury, but his special-edition “Players Weekend” cleats are still a sight to behold.

Bryant, who will wear the name “KB” on the back of his jersey during the special weekend, debuted three different pairs of cleats, designed by a trio of talented Chicago artists.

The cleats will be auctioned off over the next two weeks on Charity Buzz to support “Wings for Life,” a non-profit organization that funds spinal cord research. Bryant partnered with the charity after his friend Cory Hahn, a former All-American baseball player, was paralyzed while sliding into second base during a game in 2011.

The cleats this year are designed to promote Team USA’s 2020 Olympic baseball team, as the sport will make its return to the world stage in Tokyo. MLB players have not been able to participate, but the cleats signal a desire on the part of Bryant and others to play in the Games.

Local artists Lauren Asta, Frank Quintero, and Miss Merlot created the pairs of cleats for Bryant.
