Kris Bryant, Javier Baez Tendered Contracts by Cubs

Seven arbitration eligible players in total were tendered contracts

The Chicago Cubs made waves with their decision to tender a contract to Addison Russell on Friday, but the team also made some house-keeping moves as well.

The Cubs officially tendered contracts to a total of seven arbitration eligible players, including star infielders Kris Bryant and Javier Baez. The team also tendered a contract to outfielder Kyle Schwarber, starting pitchers Kyle Hendricks and Mike Montgomery, and reliever Carl Edwards Jr.

The only arbitration-eligible player who was not tendered a contract with the Cubs was infielder Ronald Torreyes, who was acquired in a trade earlier this week. Non-arbitration eligible players Justin Hancock and Allen Webster were also not tendered contracts, making them free agents.

With the flurry of moves, the Cubs’ 40-man roster now stands at 36 players.
