Chicago Cubs Have Cookie Monster Sing 7th Inning Stretch

The venerable character led the crowd in the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"

The Chicago Cubs gave their fans a seventh inning stretch they will never forget on Thursday afternoon as the iconic Cookie Monster sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley Field.

Shouting “today, C is for Cubbies,” the venerable Sesame Street character led the crowd in the singing of the famous tune, and he had fun making some of his trademark ad-libs in the process:

“Let’s get some cookies!” the character said, riffing on Harry Caray’s iconic catchphrase “let’s get some runs!”

Members of the media were spotted in the press box taking pictures of Cookie Monster as he sang the stretch, and fans gave the character a loud ovation after the song ended.
