Bill Murray in Talks to Play Key Role in Cubs' Movie, Report Says

The Chicago Cubs’ storybook run to the 2016 World Series title is being made into a movie, and Bill Murray is reportedly being considered for one of the biggest parts.

According to Deadline.com, Murray is currently in negotiations to play the role of Cubs manager Joe Maddon in the film. Murray, a lifelong Cubs fan, was in the stadium when the Cubs won the World Series over the Cleveland Indians last fall, and he looks like the frontrunner to play the Cubs’ famous leader.

Shane Abbess is attached to direct the film, which is based on “Teammate,” the memoir of former Cubs catcher David Ross.

No release date has been announced for the film, but with a famous actor like Murray potentially signing on to the project, it’s easy to wonder which other celebrities will jump on board.
