Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward Finalists for N.L. Gold Glove Awards

A pair of Chicago Cubs will have a chance to add to their trophy cases, as first baseman Anthony Rizzo and outfielder Jason Heyward were both nominated as finalists for the Gold Glove Awards.

Rizzo, who was nominated at first base, has won the award twice, sharing last season’s prize with Atlanta Braves slugger Freddie Freeman. This year, Rizzo will go for his third trophy when he goes up against Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker and St. Louis Cardinals slugger Paul Goldschmidt.

Goldschmidt has won the Gold Glove on three separate occasions, most recently in 2017.

For Heyward, he will be looking to add to an incredibly packed resume when he goes up for the outfielder award. Heyward has won the Gold Glove on five occasions, including a run of four straight from 2014 to 2017.

Heyward will have to fend off Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger and Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper if he wants to collect his sixth award.

The Gold Glove Award winners will be announced in a televised special on Nov. 3.
