Blackhawks place F Sharp and G Khabibulin on IR

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks placed forward Patrick Sharp and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin on injured reserve Wednesday.

Sharp, 27, suffered a lower-body injury early in the first period during Saturday's 6-2 win over the Stars when he was on the receiving end of a check by Dallas' Steve Ott. The team leader in goals with 23, Sharp is expected to be sidelined 2-to-3 weeks.

Meanwhile, Khabibulin is nursing a groin injury. The 36-year-old netminder is 17-5-5 with a 2.37 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 29 games this season.
