Quenneville Nearly Bites It

Blackhawks Coach nearly takes a digger in practice before two-day road trip

It seems the only Blackhawk slipping up on the ice is the head coach.

Joel Quenneville nearly took a digger on the ice during practice Wednesday morning at Johnny's Ice House.

"That would have been a serious wipeout," said Quenneville, laughing about it with reporters.

The near-spill made brought on a little ribbing from players.

"We've seen that before," defenseman Brian Campbell joked. "Those old plastic skates maybe don't hold up as much as they used to back in the day."

"Those are antiques.  Those are too good to get rid of.  Those are going on year 30-something," Quenneville said.

The Blackhawks are currently the National Hockey League's best team, having their best start since the 1971-72 season.

The team heads on a two-game road trip to take on Boston and Minnesota.
