White Sox Trade Gordon Beckham to Angels

The Chicago White Sox have traded second baseman Gordon Beckham to the Los Angeles Angels, the team announced Thursday.

The trade is in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the Sox said in a statement.

Beckham, 27, agreed to the terms of a one-year contract on Jan. 17. He's currently batting .221 with 24 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI in 101 games this year, the team said. He has the second- and third-highest fielding percentages by a second baseman in Sox history.

"Chicago will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow night’s series opener against New York at Yankee Stadium," the team said.
