Tom Brady Creates Twitter Account on April Fools' Day, Says He's Retiring

Tom Brady went to great lengths to give New England Patriots fans a heart attack on April Fools' Day.

We'll cut right to the chase: Here's what a verified Twitter account under the name "Tom Brady" posted early Monday afternoon:

Brady is very active on Instagram and Facebook but didn't have a Twitter account... until very recently? A look at the "Tom Brady" Twitter bio shows he joined the social media platform in March 2019, and Monday was his first tweet.

It's April Fools' Day on Monday, of course, so we're assuming the 41-year-old quarterback isn't actually joining his buddy Rob Gronkowski in retirement.

An email from a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the account was Brady's, but it also referred to the fact that the tweet came on April Fools' Day.

About an hour later, Brady sent out a second tweet that said, "Was this a bad joke?"

Whether Brady keeps his Twitter running or shuts it down after Monday's goof will be the real speculation.
