Shaw Likely to Return for Hawks Following Danault Demotion

The Chicago Blackhawks were off the ice on Monday afternoon, but they still made a roster move as they sent Phillip Danault back to the Rockford IceHogs.

Danault has played in the Hawks’ last two games, skating on the third line and getting some limited work in. He didn’t pick up a point in either game, but he largely looked to be playing his center position well and made a good impression on the coaching staff.

The move likely means that Andrew Shaw, who has missed the first three games of the team’s circus trip, will be back in the lineup Wednesday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Shaw has been out with an upper body injury that may or may not have been caused by his fight with Antoine Russell earlier this month (Joel Quenneville insists that it wasn’t, but some speculation has been that it was), but with Danault’s demotion it would appear that Shaw will slot back in on the third line.
