Prep Destination Dance Friday: Crystal Lake Central H.S

Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central High School celebrate Dance Friday on NBC 5 News Today!

Crystal Lake showed it's spirit Friday morning for the Prep Destination of the week at Crystal Lake Central High School.

Hundreds of students from two of the district's high schools came out for the early-morning pep rally.

Even Mayor Andrew T. Shepley came to support the two schools and cheer on his daughter, a Central Tiger cheerleader.

More than 16,000 people voted in NBC 5 News Today's Facebook poll, and the Crystal Lake match-up came out on top with 7,294 votes.

Both teams showed their support, narrowly edging out a game between Marist and Brother Rice.

The Central Tigers take on the South Gators Friday night for the first time in five years. The rivalry kicked off at 5:45 Friday morning with a mascot battle on the field. Then it was time for a Britney Spears Dance Friday at 6:55 before students headed off to school and prepared for the big game later Friday night.

Good luck to both teams! The Tigers and the Gators both proved their spirit and skills on the dance floor. Their moves on the football field will decide who comes out on top of this District 155 rivalry.

Could your high school be the next Prep Destination of the week?

Every week, NBC 5 News Today will take a vote beginning on Monday ending on Wednesday at noon to find out where you want to send our crew.

After polls close on Wednesday, our team will head to the winning school for an early-morning tailgate and find out about that school's spirit.

Be sure to watch for your favorite school on Facebook! Cast your Prep Destination vote, and watch NBC 5 News Today on Thursday to see where we'll head for that week.

Finally, look for the IHSA Football Championships live from Champaign, on NBC Chicago Nonstop (Comcast 341, RCN 50) Thanksgiving weekend!
