MLB Game Summary – Japan at Chicago Cubs

Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - Yu Darvish and five relievers scattered two runs and 10 hits as Japan edged the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, in an exhibition contest.

Darvish lasted two innings without giving up a run, allowing two hits and a pair of walks in his start for Japan, which went 2-1 in Pool A of the World Baseball Classic and advanced to Pool 1 to be played in San Diego, Calif. from March 15-19.

Munenori Kawasaki tripled, scored and drove in a run, while the Cubs' own Kosuke Fukudome had an RBI for the victors.

Carlos Zambrano was dealt the loss for Chicago, allowing two runs -- one earned -- on three hits in his four-inning start. Mike Fontenot had two of the Cubs' 10 hits, while Paul Bako and So Taguchi drove in a run apiece.
