Kenyan Wins Shamrock Shuffle

John Kemboi, 19, from Kenya is the men's winner of Sunday's Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K through downtown Chicago. His time was 23 minutes 39 seconds.

Tera Moody, 29, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and a native of St. Charles won for the women, with a time of 27 minutes, 21 seconds.

An estimated 25,000 runners participated of the 36,000 or so who registered for the 31st annual race, which opens the outdoor running season.  The Sun-Times posted some great photos of the race here.

The race caused street closures and the rerouting of 22 CTA buses in parts of downtown and the West Loop.

Columbus Drive between Roosevelt and Balbo was closed to all traffic beginning at 9 a.m. and was to reopen when the race ended.

The race course is north on Columbus, west on Grand, south on Rush, west on Hubbard, south on State, west on Wacker, west on Lake, northwest on Milwaukee, south on Clinton, west on Lake, south on Des Plaines, east on Washington, south on Franklin, east on Harrison, south on Michigan, east on Roosevelt and north on Columbus to finish the course.
