Derrick Rose Still Out With Groin Injury

Says groin is still 'tight'

Chicago Bulls’ star point guard Derrick Rose sat out Monday night's game against the Orlando Magic.

Rose injured his groin in a game against the New York Knicks last Monday, when Jeremy Lin blocked his fast-break layup from behind. Rose said that he felt something, but remained in the game at first, and now states he may have made it worse.

Rose did not participate in Monday morning’s shootaround with the team.

"They say with an injury like this they don’t know how long it’s going to take," Rose said in an statement in the Chicago Tribune during this morning’s shootaround at Amway Center. "I thought I was going to be back sooner. I’m missing big games that I hate to miss, like the one tonight."

Coach Tom Thibodeau is not rushing his key player, but rather letting him take his time to heal.

“You don’t want this to linger where I can’t move.” Rose said. “Every day it’s definitely getting better but I haven’t been able to run in a couple of days."
