Cubs Land Big Time Pitcher, Report

ESPN: Matt Garza aquired in 8-player deal

So much for staying quiet in the offseason.

The Chicago Cubs have pulled off a multiplayer deal with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to land right-handed pitcher Matt Garza, ESPN Chicago reports.

The Cubs will reportedly give up their minor league pitcher of the year, Chris Archer, minor league player of the year, outfielder Brandon Guyer, and outfielder Sam Fuld, who has spent time with the big league club, and several other minor league players.

Garza, 27, went 15-10 record with a 3.91 ERA last season.

The deal will be complete pending physicials, according to ESPN.

The Cubs were one of several teams rumored to be seeking Garza since last month's winter meetings.
