Bulls Officially Amnesty Carlos Boozer

Team still on the hook for power forward's $16.8 million salary

The much-maligned Carlos Boozer era as a Chicago Bulls player is officially over.

Bulls officials told Boozer Tuesday that the team is using the amnesty provision on him, meaning he is waived from the team.

The move comes as no surprise, as the team needs the cap space to sign incoming players Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic.

The Bulls are still on the hook for Boozer's $16.8 million salary next season, but it won't count toward the salary cap.

Boozer can now play for another team that bids the highest for his services, and the Bulls will pay the difference up to $16.8 million.
