The Cubs’ Aramis Ramirez is turning down an opportunity to be an All Star this year, both the Tribune and Sun-Times are reporting.
According to reports, NL All-Star manager Bruce Bochy wanted to name Ramirez as a replacement for the Phillies’ Placido Polanco, who’s out with complaints of a bulging disc.
But Ramirez doesn’t want to play in the All-Star game. He already had plans to travel home to the Dominican Republic over the break, the papers reported.
