Local kicker Jake Elliott will soon return to his suburban roots after helping to lift the Philadelphia Eagles to an historic Super Bowl victory.
Lyons Township Football tweeted Tuesday that their beloved hometown star would be honored as a special guest in Friday's "Blackout Game."
"The LT community will welcome home SUPER BOWL CHAMPION @jake_elliott22 for a ceremony during the 3rd quarter of the game," the tweet read.
Elliott also confirmed the appearance, replying with, "See everybody there! Wear black and be loud!"
Elliott played a huge role in the Philadelphia Eagles' first-ever Super Bowl this month as the team beat the New England Patriots 41-33.
Elliott, who played high school football at Lyons Township, made all three of his field goal attempts in the game, including a 46-yard field goal that helped seal the Eagles' win late in the fourth quarter.
It took two years for the coaches at Lyons Township High School to convince Jake Elliott to trade in his tennis racket for a football helmet.

Coach Jason Brauer said he saw his talent at a high school pep rally competition.
From star high school football player, to setting records in college and becoming rookie kicker for the Cincinnati Bengals, Elliott signed as the Philadelphia Eagles’ kicker.
“That’s what you hope and dream for your entire football career,” Elliott said. “That becoming a reality, is obviously pretty special.”
The Western Springs native said everyone surrounding him “has had a small impact on this journey,” and he could not be more grateful for his support system.
