Ritzenhein grew up 200 miles from Chicago in Rockford, Mich.

U.S Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein will return to the site of his breakthrough performance by headlining the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K this year.

"I love racing in Chicago, and competing at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K this spring will give me another opportunity to do that, and will be a great springboard to build momentum for the Chicago Marathon," Ritzenhein said.

Ritzenhein finished 13th in the Olympic 10,000m final as a member of his third Olympic team. He also finished in ninth-place at the Bank of America Chicago marathon last year with a personal best of 2:07:47, making him the third-fastest American of all-time.

Growing up less than 200 miles from Chicago in Rockford, Mich., Ritzenhein is excited to welcome in spring during his first appearance in the spring road race.

Ritzenhein’s plans to kick start his outdoor racing season at the Shamrock Shuffle by leading the way for 40,000 runners in the Shamrock Shuffle. He is preparing to compete in the 36th annual Chicago marathon on October 13 and ultimately representing Team USA at the 2013 World Track and Field Championships in Moscow, Russia.
