Tuesday is the last day Chicagoans will have the opportunity to register to vote online ahead of the March 15 Primary election.
Online registration requires only a valid driver’s license or state ID and the last four digits of a social security number.
A mail-in registration form is also available. Mail-in forms will be accepted and processed if they are postmarked on or before Feb. 16.
The online system will be open through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16. After this, voters will be required to register in-person at early voting locations or on election day at local precinct polling places.
In-person registration requires voters to be ready to vote during the same visit they register. It also requires two forms of ID, including one with a current address. Acceptable forms of ID can be found at the Chicago Board of Election’s website.
In order to register to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen; at least 18 years old by Nov. 8, 2016; and a resident of their precinct for at least 30 days before the election.
