Alvarez Plans on Seeking Another Term

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez said Friday that she plans on seeking another term next year.

"I love being Cook County State's Attorney.  I love being a prosecutor," the 51-year-old Alvarez told WLS-AM's Bill Cameron.  "I've just really started to implement some things that I think were necessary and we’re excited about some new laws that we’ve been working on. So there’s still a lot to do."

In her appearance, slated to air Sunday morning, the first woman and first Latina elected to the office discussed the concealed carry legislation currently working its way through the Illinois General Assembly, the homicide case involving Mayor Richard Daley's nephew, enterprising gangs and her new "deferred prosecutions" program.

The primary election will be held next March.
