Two Dems Drop Out of Governor's Race

The Democratic race for Illinois governor just got thinner.

The Illinois State Board of Elections reported on its Web site Thursday that Chicago businessman William "Dock" Walls withdrew from the race.

The board also says Oak Park attorney Ed Scanlan has been removed from the ballot.

Their departure leaves Gov. Pat Quinn and Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes in the Feb. 2 Democratic primary race.

The state says Walls withdrew Monday and Scanlan was removed Thursday.

Walls and Scanlan could not immediately be reached for comment. Scanlan's campaign did not immediately respond to an e-mail. A voicemail box for Walls was full.
