Duckworth and Quinn? Not Likely

Not likely to leave her Washington job, say insiders

Quinn and Duckworth? Not likely, say insiders.

Governor Quinn wants her to be his Lt. Governor, but Tammy Duckworth is not likely to leave her Washington job with Veterans Affairs to join Quinn for a statewide campaign, say sources.

Duckworth  -- who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate less than a year ago -- is one of four Assistant Secretaries for the Department of Veterans Affairs.  Quinn sees Duckworth "has great potential" according to those close to Duckworth, but those same sources say "chances are slim" she will enter the campaign fray.

Duckworth, an Iraqi War veteran who lost both of her legs and damaged her right arm, ran for Congress in 2006 in the 6th District, narrowly losing to Peter Roskam

While she currently lives in Washington, Duckworth still owns a home in Hoffman Estates and resturns monthly to the area to complete her National Guard duties.

A source close to Duckworth says "she is still digesting the possiblity" of a Lt. Governor race, but at the same time highly doubts you will see a Quinn-Duckworth campaign sign.
