A 56-year-old man collapsed onto the “El” tracks at the Central Avenue Station on the Green Line 's Lake Street branch Thursday night.
Michael Williams died after the fall but a train did not hit him and he didn’t touch the electrified third rail, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Authorities believe Williams may have died from natural causes like a heart attack.
After the fall trains were shut down in both directions for about 15 minutes.
Fire fighters arrived on the scene and helped the man back on to the platform. He was taken to Loretto Hospital where he died.
