Illinois Races: Darlena Williams-Burnett for 7th District Rep.

Darlena Williams-Burnett (D), Running for 7th District Rep.

Darlena Williams-Burnett is the Cook County Deputy Recorder of Deeds.

Her claim to fame, other than being the deputy recorder, came during the 2008 Presidential election when she acted as one of the controversial "Superdelegates." She endorsed Barack Obama.

Williams-Burnett first entered politics during the era of Harold Washington, when he was the city's mayor. She became a union steward.  After that she volunteered for Jessie White's treasurer campaign and eventually became his deputy campaign manager. She calls herself the "clear choice for Illinois' 7th Congressional District," and plans to use her position to further the health care debate and provide stricter guidelines for public housing in Illinois.
