Whole Foods Market is recalling items prepared with a spice that may have undeclared peanut in it, potentially putting those with peanut allergies at risk, the supermarket chain says.
The company says it used a supplier's ground cumin spice in items like prepared salads, seasoned meat items and tacos. The supplier notified Whole Foods Market that it found peanut protein in some of the cumin distributed to some of the company's facilities.
No allergic reactions have been reported to date, and recalled items have been pulled from store shelves, the company said.
Items that contained ground cumin spice subject to the recall were sold from January 14 through February 6 in stores throughout the tri-state area.
Whole Foods Market says it's pulled and destroyed the recalled ground cumin spice and all items containing the spice.
Customers who purchased the recalled product should throw it out and bring a receipt into a supermarket for a full refund. Customers with questions can call 512-477-5566 ext. 20060.
