Grounded: Tara Reid Says Dog Dispute Led to Boot From Delta Flight

Reid claims flight attendants wanted her to put her 3-month-old puppy in the plane's overhead bin

"Sharknado" actress Tara Reid is telling her side of the story after reports surfaced she was removed from a Delta flight in Los Angeles bound for New York earlier this week for causing a disturbance.

Reid was seen exiting Delta Flight 613 with her 3-month-old emotional support puppy in one arm in footage obtained by TMZ. Reid says the commotion started when when flight attendants asked her to put her dog in the plane’s overhead bin.

“The flight attendant wanted me to put my dog in its carry and in the overhead bin which was an absurd request considered animals cannot breath in there,” Reid wrote in an statement on her Instagram account.

Reid says the flight attendant then asked her to put the Yorkshire terrier in the cargo hold, which she also refused.

Delta did not respond to a request for comment.

Reid also noted other cases where dogs had died after being placed in the overhead storage. A family’s 10-month-old French bulldog died in March after a United Airlines attendant forced its owner to place the dog in an overhead compartment during a three hour flight from Houston to New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

Reid included a photo of the puppy’s identification as an emotional support to prove she had the proper paperwork to board with her pet.

Reid said the post was in direct response to the TMZ article which said the actress “loudly complained about being given the wrong seat,” causing flight attendants to kick her off Delta Flight 613 from Los Angeles International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Reid added in her statement that said she and her puppy Beso were able to get on another flight to New York. She also vehemently denied TMZ’s original story and said the tabloid never contacted her representative for comment.

"I don’t appreciate the false reporting from TMZ adding to false claims about what truly went on,” Reid said. “Furthermore, TMZ was not on the plane, the mere fact that they simply took someone else’s word for it is bad journalism at its core."
