Swiss Investment Manager to Buy Brooke Astor's Duplex for $19M

Brooke Astor's opulent duplex at 778 Park Avenue has been sold to Swiss investment manager, Daniel Forcart for $19 million, reports the Post. The elegant home is where the late socialite and philanthropist notoriously spent her remaining years allegedly confined by her son, Anthony Marshall as he attempted to plunder her vast fortune.

The lavish Upper East Side duplex was designed by Rosario Candela and boasts fourteen rooms, East and South exposures, a four-story limestone base, a private elevator, and a "conservative elegance designed to greet a visitor with a full sense of a home." Forcart reportedly fell in love with the architecture and timeless design of the home and could picture himself spending "the rest of his life" there. He is expected to shell out $19 million for his dream home, which is a steep discount when compared to the original asking price of $46 million in 2008.
