Is It Sir Carter Carter? Or Just Sir Carter? Beyonce, We Need to Know

Is the billion-dollar music couple's newborn son named "Sir Carter Carter," as Beyonce's post would suggest? Or is it just Sir?

What to Know

  • Beyonce brought the social media world to a jarring halt when she gave the world a first glimpse of her newborn twins as they turned 1 month
  • But it's the caption -- "Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today" -- accompanying the post that sent Twitter into a tizzy
  • Their sister is named Blue Ivy Carter (Jay-Z's last name) -- so is it Sir Carter Carter? Or just Sir Carter? We need to know

Beyonce brought the social media world to a jarring halt when she gave the world a first glimpse of her newborn twins as they turned 1 month old on Thursday.

The Grammy-winning artist posted an Instagram photo complete with a floral arrangement and lace underwear, while holding her newborns in her arms.

But it's the caption accompanying the post β€” "Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today" β€” that sent Twitter into a frenzy.

No one really uses last names when referring to Beyonce (Knowles) or Jay-Z (Carter), but we can only assume the twins do indeed have surnames. (Their older sister's Instagram profile is called Blue Ivy Carter, after all). So is the billion-dollar music couple's newborn son named "Sir Carter Carter," as Beyonce's post would suggest? Or is it just Sir?

The mystery has become the stuff of memes as we await clarification.
