Fatal Shooting

Broward Sheriff's Office Investigating Triple Shooting in Tamarac

A former Boston Market employee shot and killed an ex-coworker and injured a second before turning the gun on himself Friday in Tarmac, Florida, officials said.

Clive Muir, 57, fatally shot Anne Nau, 21 at an apartment in the 7500 block of Northwest 79th Avenue, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Friends at the scene said Nau and Muir had been romantically involved. Nau's mother was in the apartment when Muir got inside.

A friend told NBC 6 Muir had been fired three months ago from the Boston Market restaurant where Nau also worked.

"I think she wasn't interested in him anymore but he was in love with her so much, so it was hard for him to get over it," friend Bobby Sinclair said.

BSO officials said Muir then drove to Boston Market at 5815 North University Drive. It was around lunchtime and customers were dining at the restaurant.

"People in the restaurant noticed him approaching and an employee tried to lock the office door, but he gained entry," said Gina Carter with the sheriff's office.

Muir then shot 33-year-old employee Jason Claire. He got into his car and started to drive away, then stopped, got out and shot himself, according to BSO. He died at the scene.

Claire was airlifted to Broward Medical Center, where is he fighting for his life. Co-workers described him as a role model.

"He's just a great person, he gives good advice. I just look up to him," Dakota Carlson said.

Boston Market released the following statement in response to the shooting:

"We are shocked and saddened by the tragic incident that occurred this morning at one of our restaurants in Tamarac, FL. Our thoughts and prayers go out to affected families. We are cooperating with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."
