Photographer Who Accidentally Captured Proposal Finds Mystery Couple After Photo Goes Viral

When Andrea Stocks saw a man proposing to his girlfriend in a Milwaukee park, she picked up her camera and started shooting. But what happened afterwards was something she never expected.

Stocks had been in Grant Park to take a high schooler’s senior pictures Tuesday when she realized a couple nearby was getting engaged.

“I was just snapping away some pictures,” she said. “I wasn’t quite sure what to do [with the photos]. I didn’t want to interrupt them because they were hugging and I was in the middle of a session.”

The next day, Stocks said she decided to post one of the photos to her Facebook page.

“I just posted one to my Facebook page just because I thought it was cool,” she said. “One thing led to another and everyone started sharing it. Before I knew it, it’s gone viral.”

The post quickly garnered nearly 500 shares and almost 400 likes. Eventually, NBC affiliate station TMJ4 shared the photo to its Facebook page, and the mystery couple reached out.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

The station connected Stocks with Gabriela Webster and her fiance, Isaiah Espino.

“They are just thrilled that I caught the pictures,” she said. “They were looking for an interesting way to tell the family so this was it.”

Stocks said the couple has since asked her to be the photographer at their wedding.

“It’s interesting when you catch candid moments like that. It’s just kind of crazy to me that I stumbled upon this,” she said. “Im honored that they want me to be a part of everything now from beginning to end here.”
