Patti's “In the Jungle Until Further Notice”

Illinois' former First Lady in Costa Rica for reality show

Illinois' former First Lady has activated an email auto-response in advance of her departure for Costa Rica to compete in an NBC reality show.

"I will be out of the office and in the jungle until further notice,Patti Blagojevich's auto-responder says.

She announced last week that she would participate in "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" after a judge barred the former governor, Rod Blagojevich, from leaving the country.

The impeached governor faces federal charges, including accusations that he tried to sell the Illinois U.S. Senate seat previously held by President Barack Obama.

Patti Blagojevich has been unemployed for several months after losing her job at the Christian Industrial League shortly after her husband was arrested.  She was seen getting her passport last week.

"Patti is going to compete because this is what a mom does for her kids and for her family," said the couple's spokesman, Glenn Selig, adding that she "hopes the public votes to keep her in Costa Rica because the longer she stays the more money she raises for charity."

The show premieres Monday, June 1 on NBC.
