New GOP Fault Line: War Hawks vs. Deficit Hawks

The war in Afghanistan has exposed a fault line in the Republican Party. Some members, including candidates for the 2012 presidential nod, say the $100 billion-per-year war is a crucial front in the battle against terror and others say we're spending money we don't have in a country that doesn't want us. Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul, both of whom are running for president, are the most vocal members of the end-the-war camp. Sen. John McCain, the GOP's last presidential nominee, is the most vocal member of the opposing side, which also includes Tim Pawlenty. They call Huntsman and his ilk "isolationists."
