Sony unveiled PlayStation 4, its first new major game console since 2006, at an event in New York Wednesday evening. "What we're creating is the fastest, most powerful network for gaming in the world," said David Perry, CEO and founder of Gaikai, a game streaming company purchased by Sony last year. "Our vision is to create the first social gaming network with meaning." The new system will allow users to interact with PlayStation Network friends by posting comments and sharing a live gameplay via live broadcast. Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment also revealed a new touch-sensing controller, the Dual Shock 4, that has a touchpad and light bar that acts as a player indicator and a motion controller. "Today marks a moment of truth and a bold step forward for PlayStation as a company," House said. "Today we will give you a glimpse into the future of play."
