Jennifer Lawrence's “Screw PETA” Remark Rankles Group

The animal rights group picks another fight, this time with the "Hunger Games" star

The list of celebs with whom PETA has beef is a long one, and "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence may have just joined it.

The provocative animal rights group has chastised Lawrence for comments she made to Rolling Stone about a scene in her breakout movie "Winter's Bone" in which she skins a squirrel, The Clicker reported.

"I should say it wasn't real, for PETA — but screw PETA," she told the magazine.

PETA said the actress — who also looked awfully handy hunting animals with a bow and arrow in "The Hunger Games" — shouldn't take its mission so lightly.

"When people kill animals, it is the animals who are 'screwed,' not PETA, and one day I hope she will try to make up for any pain she might cause any animal who did nothing but try to eke out a humble existence in nature," PETA's president, Ingrid Newkirk, said Tuesday.

Newkirk later tried to clarify the admonition.

"We have our bet on Jennifer ending up joining the ranks of other young celebrities like Natalie Portman, Lea Michele, and Kellan Lutz who are using their influence to help animals," she added.
