Liam Neeson Snags “Hangover 2” Cameo from Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson has been replaced.

Actor Liam Neeson revealed Friday he’d flown to the set of “The Hangover 2” to shoot a cameo, a day after the film’s director said his cast and crew had put the kibosh on Gibson’s participation.

"I just got a call to do a one day shoot on 'Hangover 2' as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it," Neeson told Daily Variety. "I just laughed my leg off when I saw 'The Hangover,' I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV."

Neeson credited “A-Team” co-star Bradley Cooper with helping him score the role, the actor told Daily Variety.

“Hangover” director Todd Phillips said in a statement Thursday that he’d pulled the plug on Gibson’s planned cameo in the bro-tastic party film co-starring Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms.

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team,” Phillips said, TheWrap.com reported. “But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

Turns out Neeson and Gibson share the same manager.

Gossip site TMZ.com reported that rep Alan Nierob confirmed Neeson’s “Hangover” participation in the film “pending clearance of cast and crew background check.”
