Colbert Predicts Biden Veep Debate Win

“The key to winning one of these debates is to lower your expectations about your speaking skills, and Joe Biden’s been doing that for four years.”

Taping before Thursday's vice presidential debate in Kentucky, political satirist Stephen Colbert let the audience in on a secret: he knew who was going to win.

“The key to winning one of these debates is to lower your expectations about your speaking skills, and Joe Biden’s been doing that for four years,” Colbert said, taking a swipe at the gaffe-prone vice president.

In the months leading up to the vice presidential debate, the 69-year-old vice president has made a few misstatements on the campaign trail. In North Carolina, Biden said the middle class had been “buried” during the Obama administration, and in Virginia he remarked that Republicans would put Americans “back in chains.”

In addition to his penchant for off-the-cuff remarks, Biden's victory is a sure thing "because the liberal media fix is in,” Colbert said.

Colbert pointed out that some on the right have accused debate moderator Martha Raddatz, a correspondent for ABC News, of political bias because back in 1991, Barack Obama attended Raddatz’s wedding to Obama's old law school classmate, Julius Genachowski. The pair divorced in 1997.

“This thing goes deep folks,” Colbert mocked. “What woman doesn’t love doing favors for her ex-husband’s friends?”
