U.S. Coast Guard and law enforcement officials were treating as a hoax a report of an explosion aboard a yacht carrying 21 passengers off the coast of New Jersey Monday afternoon, NBC News reported. At 4:20 p.m., an emergency radio transmission reported that nine of the passengers were injured in an explosion aboard the Blind Date. A massive search party, including seven aircraft and Good Samaritan vessels, were dispatched, yet three hours later, despite favorable search conditions, not a trace of any yacht explosion or sailors were detected.
