Architecture Firm Blasted for Twin Tower Lookalike

A Dutch architectural firm is getting an earful for its plans to construct a residential complex that resembles the exploding Twin Towers. Dubbed the Cloud, the complex consists of two towers connected by an abstract structure intended to make residents above that point feel like they're living high in the sky, above the clouds. But at a glance, the complex eerily resembles images of New York City's burning towers after the Sept. 11 attacks and has brewed up angry reactions. "We receive threatening emails and calls of angry people calling us Al Qaeda lovers or worse," the firm, MVRDV posted on its Facebook page Friday. "It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design process." The complex is scheduled to open in Seoul, South Korea in 2015.
