Miley Cyrus just can't seem to avoid controversy, no matter what she does.
The 18 year-old pop star recently got some fresh ink and posted a photo of it on her Twitter page - the tattoo is a tiny equal sign on her ring finger, and Cyrus explained it means "all love is equal."
Within moments, the picture and caption sparked an online fight over homosexuality and gay marriage.Although Cyrus never actually said whether or not the tattoo was a direct gay rights statement, she has supported the cause in the past.
U.S. & World
"I said on [Twitter] that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other," she said in a 2010 interview with Parade magazine. "I got such hate mail about being a bad person."
And it keeps coming. One critic challenged Cyrus about her tattoo on the basis that the singer is openly Christian, saying that the Bible condemns homosexuality. Cyrus responded: Where does it say in the Bible to judge others? It doesn't. GOD is the only judge, honey. God is love."
Finally, Cyrus ended her participation in the back-and-forth by simply writing: "Everyone is entitled to their opinions. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything."
