Man Living at McHenry County Day Care Charged with Possession of Child Porn

A man was arrested for the alleged possession of child pornography while living with his parents in their home, which is also a state licensed day care, according to authorities.

Michael Chaparro, 26, of the 4500 block of West Ramble Road in McHenry, Illinois, was charged with four counts of child pornography, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.

Police conducted a search warrant at the home after they were notified that someone with an IP address at that location was downloading child pornography. The address was also a state licensed day care facility run by Eva and Hector Chaparro, police said.

Michael Chaparro was arrested at the scene and transported to the McHenry County Correctional facility. His bond was set at $50,000.

Department of Child and Family Services was called and notified that there were 10 children enrolled in the day care program at the home. Officials developed a “safety plan” with the facility, which includes not allowing Chaparro to be present at the house when children are there.

"He had access to children in there," McHenry County sheriff's lieutenant James Popovits said. "We are not saying that he did victimize them, but we just don't know at this point."

Following his arrest, Chaparro posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4.

Police said an investigation into the matter is ongoing. Anyone with information surrounding the incident is asked to call (815) 334-4750.
