Last Abortion Clinic in Missouri Expects to Be Shuttered This Week

The closure would impact more than 1 million women of reproductive age, according to Planned Parenthood's president

Legal abortion may soon effectively end in Missouri as its last remaining abortion clinic expects to be shut down this week, NBC News reported.

The state health department "is refusing to renew" a license to provide abortions to Planned Parenthood's St. Louis clinic, the health services organization said Tuesday. Planned Parenthood officials said they are filing a lawsuit seeking a restraining order after the state license expires Friday.

The closure would impact more than 1 million women of reproductive age, Planned Parenthood Federation of America President and CEO Dr. Leana Wen said.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services did not immediately return a request for comment.
