Google and Apple Aim to Unify Large and Small Screens

Amid all the gadgets and technical specs, it's clear Google and Apple share one common goal — to eliminate the barrier between phones, PCs, TVs and wearable technologies. Apple's "Continuity," a set of features unveiled this month, lets users pass emails or phone calls from their iPhones to their MacBooks, and vice versa. Google unveiled similar features at its I/O developers conference on Wednesday, including the ability to use a smartwatch to control TV playback. The two tech giants want users to look at their gadgets as windows to the same familiar landscape, not as separate devices. "The whole vision for connected devices is starting to play out," said David Berkowitz, chief marketing officer of consulting agency MRY.
