“G.I. Joe” Is Getting the “Zombieland” Treatment

Last week, we were so excited to hear that "Zombieland" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick would be handling the script for "Deadpool." Apparently, these guys just became the hottest writers in Hollywood because they've also been tapped to pen the "G.I. Joe" sequel.

No announcement as been made if Stephen Sommers will be back to direct (we pray he won't be) or if any of the cast will return, though we assume the actors signed on for multiple films initially. But knowing Reese and Wernick are attached gives us tremendous hope that the sequel might not suck as devastatingly as the first film did.

Channing Tatum, who stars as Duke, has been quite vocal about his preference for a darker second film, moving away from the cheesy, wannabe family fun of the first movie. We just hope our childhood memories won't continue to be defiled as blatantly as they were last time.

If knowing is half the battle, they should have known better. With any luck and this new writing team, a second pass could rectify the critical errors of the past.
